Playing Cards for English Teachers

At a recent training course where I was officiating, one of my colleagues demonstrated a set of playing cards she had made in order to get her "Special Needs" classes to practise their spoken English.

Now it's this kind of fun activity that really works in class: The kids love it and you can vary the information given on the cards according to your objectives.

And in the spirit of Victor Kiam, I made a set of cards myself (with 27 different characters to choose from).

You can download an editable version of this deck of cards (and my colleague's "Likes and Dislikes" set) for English oral communication at the Académie de Montpellier English site.

If you appreciate the file, feel free to express your joy by coming back here, clicking on an Amazon France partner link (yes, that's one back there!) and buying yourself something that you fancy. I promise not to spend the commission on books about Aston Villa.

Destroy All Monsters

Marvin is a member of the AgreGang discussion group but he never told us about Destroy All Monsters, his blog about studying for the CAPES d'anglais 2006!

He even wrote a few kind words about this website although his description of me as a "football fan" is somewhat inaccurate. I am an Aston Villa fan...

The Doug Ellis Gallery

I submitted my riff on Aston Villa chairman, Doug Ellis to the Grauniad Football Gallery competition. It got selected for publication but I didn't win a prize (It was a good job it didn't, I would have placed my free £100 pound bet on Liverpool beating the Villa 1-3 at Villa Park last Saturday. As it happened they did beat us by two goals but it was 0-2).
