Internet Explorer Can Make Your Computer Unsafe

This is my small contribution to the ongoing fight to make people aware that using Internet Explorer is downright silly. Even IE6 is now a three year old, completely out of date security liability.

It's not a very good browser either.

Thankfully I don't have to explain why because the Web Standards Project has launched a Browse Happy campaign which should tell you all you need to know.

FWIW, I recommend Firefox:

  • fast
  • safe
  • no pop-ups or websites taking control of your browser window
  • Google search built in
  • tabbed browsing - open several different sites in one window and hop between them via a system of tabs
  • amazing extensions to increase functionality (one of my favourites is BugMeNot, which allows you to bypass login to sites which require registration
  • It's free
  • only 4.8MB to download!

Do yourself a favour, get rid of that blue e.

  • I couldn't agree more with you Darren, now that I have tried Firefox on my PC at home. It really is easy to install and use. However, I'm writing from school where we still use the old blue e. I definitely will have to download the "BugMeNot" extension. Thanks for the tips.

  • Ah, once you've tried it, there's no going back!
